French skiing resorts

Austrian officials say that

Home to some of the world's greatest ski area - the superb food, diversity of resorts, high-altitude snow-sure skiing and tree-lined runs make France one of the best countries there is for a ski break.

Flying in through Geneva and Chambéry the flights are shorter than other destinations, and there are a huge number of different resort options for a skiing holiday that is unique to France. Some give a short transfer, many have high altitude peaks which make for reliable snow records and others are part of big sprawling ski areas which give good value for your lift pass and a different experience year after year.

We offer excellent provision for families with recommended childcare services stretching the length of the Alps. Our own Crystal Childcare services operate out of La Plagne, Alpe d’Huez and Tignes too for that extra peace of mind of knowing your children are having a great time in good hands.

A ski trip in France gives you a great choice of everything from traditional towns like Morzine or Chamonix, to purpose-built mountain resorts like Avoriaz and Flaine which make up in ski-in, ski-out convenience what they lack in charm. In between there are linked villages like those in Paradiski which give a bit of everything including the fairytale fantasy of a stay in Arc 1950.

Even the small ski villages in France hold great attraction for a ski holiday. As well as small village centres that are full of character, local flavour and charm as in Sainte-Foy, others like St Martin de Belleville and La Clusaz still provide access to a huge variety of off-piste terrain and some deep powder skiing.

For those who like a good time, it’s no accident that the entire wintersports world uses a French word for a post-piste party. It is where après began – resorts like Tignes and Les Deux Alpes offer a cheaper more affordable way to combine snow, singing and a drink or two. For a more chic take on après the world famous Folie Douce bars can be found in France’s more cosmopolitan resorts – Alpe d’Huez, Val d’Isère, Meribel and Val Thorens.

Throw in the glacier skiing and the fact we have a number of France ski deals which change every week, and its clear why around a third of all skiers and boarders leaving British shores each year head to the French Alps.
